Fixed assets, depreciation, service, and maintenance
How Infor LN's fixed-asset books, depreciation methods, assets-under-construction, and Service module map to D365 fixed assets, Books, Asset Management, and the maintenance-versus-service decision — including where the fit is imperfect.

Identify the gaps where the D365 fit is imperfect and describe realistic options
Introduction
Fixed assets and service maintenance are not typically the most complex modules in an LN migration, but they contain several landmines for teams that treat them as low-risk configuration work.
LN fixed assets: asset master, books, and depreciation
The LN fixed-asset model is organised around three levels: the asset master, the asset books attached to it, and the depreciation methods configured for each book.
Capital investment and assets under construction
LN's capital investment model allows costs to be accumulated in a capital order or a project before capitalisation. The asset under construction (AuC) is not depreciated while costs are accumulating.
Asset transfers and disposals
LN supports two asset movement types that require explicit D365 design: transfers and disposals.
LN Service module and D365 Asset Management
LN's Service module is a distinct module covering the maintenance and repair of physical assets — primarily customer-owned or company-owned serialised items. Its core document is the maintenance sales order: a single document that combines the technical work order (what maintenance is to be performed), the parts consumption and labour…

Summary
LN's fixed-asset model translates well to D365. The multi-book structure, depreciation methods, AuC capitalisation, and disposal flows all have clear D365 equivalents. The LN Service module is more challenging — the integrated maintenance-and-billing document splits in D365, requiring process redesign for customer-billable scenarios.
