Maps BC Jobs (job tasks, job planning lines, job journals, WIP methods, job invoicing) to D365 Project management and accounting — projects, activities, categories, forecasts, WIP, revenue recognition and billing rules — and clarifies the Project Operations decision gate.

Introduction
Business Central Jobs provide a surprisingly complete project-accounting capability for a mid-market ERP: job tasks structure the work; job planning lines define budgets and billing schedules; job journals capture usage (hours, expenses, items); WIP methods recognise cost and revenue over time;
The Project Operations decision gate
Before mapping any BC job to a D365 structure, the programme must decide which D365 module owns project work. This is a binary decision per project population:
BC job structure mapped to D365 projects
A BC job with no billing (type = Non-Billable or Internal) still needs a project contract in D365 if any financial posting is required — the contract can have an internal funding source.
Project categories and pricing
Job Resource Prices — unit price per resource or resource group for a specific job. Job Item Prices — unit cost and unit price per item for a specific job. Job G/L Account Prices — unit cost/price per G/L account line for a specific job.
WIP methods — BC to D365
BC calculates WIP via the "Calculate WIP" batch job and posts via "Post WIP to G/L". The calculation is job-level.
Job invoicing to project invoice proposals
Select planning lines marked as Billable (or "Both") with a "Qty. to Transfer to Invoice" > 0. Run "Create Sales Invoice" — generates a standard BC sales invoice linked to the job. Post the sales invoice — recognises revenue and AR.

Summary
BC Jobs are lighter than D365 Project management and accounting: a single record (the job) serves as both project and contract; planning lines double as budgets and billing schedules; WIP calculation is a batch job with five fixed methods. D365 decomposes each of these concerns into separate, more granular structures.
