ChartFields, SetIDs and Journal Generator — a configuration model built on tableset sharing.
PeopleSoft derives accounting from ChartFields resolved against business units and ledger groups, and moves subsystem accounting entries into the General Ledger through Journal Generator rather than posting directly. Business Unit combined with SetID and tableset sharing decides which reference data any transaction can see, and that mechanism has no D365 counterpart — it has to be redesigned into legal entities plus shared-reference behaviour. ChartFields, trees and combo-edit rules must be reduced to an intentional dimension model, Commitment Control can exceed standard D365 budget-control depth, and PeopleCode, Application Engine and SQR estates are routinely larger than their owners expect.
ChartFields + Journal Generator → Main account + financial dimensions + posting profiles
